Enable This Simple Holiday Routine To Lighten Things Up

When you say “Alexa, it’s almost the holidays”…
While you're hanging the wreath on the door and decorating the tree, be sure to try the following tasks with Alexa:
Have her turn on the smart plug your Christmas tree or holiday lights are plugged into. If you don’t already have your lights connected to a smart plug, we highly recommend it. These bad boys are 32% off right now.
Ask her to do her best Santa impression. This is great if you have little ones in the house. Have them ask Alexa and maybe she can even help you make a gift list.
Turn on classic holiday tunes. Amazon Music’s holiday playlist is fantastic, this will definitely set the mood.
To set this up and enable it as a routine...
Just tap this link. It’s easiest if you tap the link from your smartphone.
Update it for your Alexa setup. For this routine, you’ll need to update the smart plug and pick which Echo you want to play music from. (Tap/click here if you don’t remember how to do it)
Say, “Alexa, it’s almost the holidays” to run it!
Bonus: Add Holiday Pictures To Your Nest Display
We've already shared how you can set up your Nest display to show off the pictures in your Google photo feed.
But the best part is that you can then pick certain photos to display. Like, for instance, if you want to just show Christmas tree photos during the holiday season.
The best way to really curate your photo display is to create a new album.
Open the Google Photos app
Tap Library
Tap New Album
Choose the photos you want to include (you can search for photos by different things—like “Christmas tree” or “December” or “snow”, and Google will find those things in your images)
Give the album a title
Then, select your album in the Google Home app
Open the Google Home App, and select your Nest display
Tap on the picture that shows what’s on your display picture frame
Tap Google photos
Tap on your album
Voila! You’ll get only images that’ll help you set a holiday mood!
Pro Tip
You can also set it up that you’ll only show images of certain people—so when you have house guests, you can set it to only show pictures of those friends. Pretty fun!
