Halloween is Just Around The Corner – Here’s How Alexa Can Help You Amplify The Fear This Year

Getting Spooky With Alexa

With Halloween just a few days away, spooky season is in full swing.

With that in mind, there are dozens of ways that you can leverage your Alexa to crank up the spookiness in your house. To start, just ask Alexa how much money you’ve spent at Amazon this year. That will really scare you.

In all seriousness, most people could probably guess the semi-obvious ways that Alexa can help out during All Hallow’s Eve. This includes helping you buy a costume, party decorations, or stay stocked up on Halloween candy.

But, there are a few more Alexa functionalities that can add to your Fright Night.

Scary Skills

Did you know that your Amazon Echo can help set the mood by playing the Monster Mash, Michael Jackson’s Thriller, or just spooky background music like “haunted sounds”?

To take it to the next level, hide your Echo somewhere outside to create some Halloween ambiance for trick-or-treaters. Then, ask her to play “Haunted House” or “Spooky Halloween Sounds”.

Another Alexa Skill that’s a personal Halloween favorite is “Spooky Scream”. This skill will set a timer of your choosing and then release a bloodcurdling scream when the timer hits 0. To have some fun, set her to scream at nighttime on Halloween night. Or, take it one step further by putting your Echo under a family member's bed and setting Alexa to scream at midnight. That should make for some fun morning conversations.

In addition to screaming, Alexa also knows plenty of scary stories. For the kids’ version, ask Alexa to “tell you a spooky story”. For adults, just ask her to scare you.

Finally, as mentioned, you can set up your Echo outside and use the Drop-In skill to keep tabs on trick-or-treaters. This way, you can tell kids that you like their costumes and remind them to take just one piece of candy. (Good luck with that). Bonus points for giving your Echo a costume.

Less Scary Skills

If you’re into Halloween for the candy, not the scares, then there are still plenty of less-frightening ways to have fun with Alexa. For instance, you can ask Alexa to play a Halloween game.

Games like “The Magic Door”, “Ghost Detector”, “Haunted Adventure”, and “Halloween Feel The Pressure” are all fun spooky games to choose from. Or, to let Alexa pick for you, just say “Alexa, let’s get spooky”.

And, when it’s finally time to go to bed, just ask Alexa to tell you a Halloween joke. This will lighten the mood and help you forget any scary stories she told you earlier.
