In fact, it’s back and we think better than ever. For starters, I'm James, your new editor. You'll be hearing from me regularly.
So why come back now?
Because voice finally got interesting again.
For years, talking to your tech mostly meant setting timers and asking about the weather. AI changed that.
Today you can dictate an email instead of typing it with tools like Wispr Flow, create AI voices that sound remarkably human with ElevenLabs, and have a real back-and-forth conversation with ChatGPT Voice or Gemini Live. Even Alexa and Siri have been rebuilt around AI: Alexa+ is now available to everyone in the U.S., and Apple's new Siri AI arrived in beta with iOS 27 last month.
Lots of it is genuinely useful, if someone shows you how. That's the job.
